New Pylon Design Has Been Chosen

by · January 13, 2012

Back in May there was a competition started to find the future of pylons. Well, finally a winner has been drawn. Out of over 250 entries a Danish Engineering Firm, Bystrup has been crowned the winner.

The company’s T-shaped design scooped the £5,000 prize. The competition was to choose the next design, the structure that will replace the existing triangular concept first seen in the 1920’s.

There has been talk of using underground cables but it is too much of a hassle, and it also is far too costly in the event that they break or need some repair doing to them. They have had their enemies in the past as well, the latest being Lib Dem MP Tessa Munt. In July in a parliamentary discussion she described the damage being brought on by the pylons as “beyond belief”.

The new pylon design will hopefully have a good knock on effect and it will hopefully see the start of cheap business electricity. We all know that business electricity prices are increasing now with suppliers rates going through the roof.

Not just business electricity but also electricity that is used in and around the home, everyone from business owners to home owners are being handed considerable bills for their gas and electricity, and it’s time things were clamped down on and the government started to do something!
